2016 – Year of the Cat

While I know that 2016 is the year of the monkey on the Chinese calendar, for me, it is the year of the cat, because I’m promoting my book “Kill All Cats“.

June

  • 1st. Publish “Kill All Cats”. Because my cockatiel told me to do it via CreateSpace and Kindle (Amazon) and Smashwords, which makes the book and ebook available on all the other platforms and most bookstores. (Update: Actually, the official date of publication became June 5th.)
  • 2nd. Home and exhausted because of what happened on the first. (Update: Yeah, I’m tired.)
  • 11th. Attending Writer’s Morning Out in Pittsboro, NC to hobnob with other writers and learn more about self-publishing.

  • 8th, Friday, “Kill All Cats”, featured book on the North Carolina Writers Network “Book Buzz” site.
  • 9th, Saturday, 1-3 p.m. Attending Writer’s Morning Out at The Brewery in Pittsboro, NC to hobnob with other writers and learn more about self-publishing.
  • 12th, Tuesday, My interview about “Kill All Cats” on OmniMystery is live.
  • 14th, Thursday, An article and interview about “Kill All Cats” on The Gumshoe Review is live.
  • 19th, Tuesday, “The 23-Month Pregnancy” up on Montana Scribble blog. It’s the story of giving birth to “Kill All Cats”.
  • 25th, Saturday, 5-star review posted on the CPMA Book Review Blog.

  • 7th, Sunday, 4-5 p.m. Readings from “Kill All Cats” at The Joyful Jewel, 44-A Hillsboro Street, (that’s downtown y’all) Pittsboro, NC. (919)-883-2775. “local art straight from the heart”.
  • 13th, Saturday, 1-3 p.m. Bylina presents “Writer’s Block: Sit down, shut up, and write” at the Writers Morning Out meeting at The Brewery in Pittsboro, NC.
  • 29th, Monday, 7 p.m. Author attendance for review of “One Promise Too Many” with the CAM Book Club at Brewster’s Pub, Cary, NC.

  • 10. Saturday. Bookmarks Festival in Winston-Salem, NC in the Sisters-in-Crime booth. Great fun. Sold twenty books. Will return next year.

  • National Novel Writing Month (NANOWRIMO). While I will not be participating in it, I will be in spirit as I finish writing and editing Don’t Fear the Reaper, which I’m trying to get ready for publication in June 2017.
  • 04-06. North Carolina Writers Network (NCWN) Fall Conference in Raleigh, NC. Taking the Master’s Classes. Copies of all my books will be available for sale and signing.
  • 05. Reading from “Paper or Plastic? The Grocery Store Chronicles” at the NCWN Fall Conference in the evening. The memoirs of a senior-citizen night cashier chronicling the odd, uplifting, and sometimes sad slices of life in a chain-based grocery store in a suburban ’hood.
  • 12. 1-3 p.m. – Presentation of Publish or Perish: Understand the Swamp you’ve entered to the Writer’s Morning Out open group in the meeting room of the Greek Kouzina, 964 East Street, Pittsboro, NC from 1-3 pm.
  • 15. Attend monthly meeting of the Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) Creative Writing Program (CWP) Steering Committee.
